We are now doing our first set of evaluations for the term based on the theme ‘La Francophonie de Terre-Neuve et du Labrador. There will be listening and reading comprehension evaluations and writing and speaking production evaluations.

First one:  Wednesday, Sept. 28. Second one:  Monday, Oct. 3, Tuesday, Oct, 4.   Third one:  Thurs, Oct. 6 and Tuesday 11. The forth is now underway (October 13,14 and 18.)

We are now beginning a unit in grammar.  There will be a verb quiz every day. At the end of the unit students will be evaluated on a written project.  (Oct. 18 – October 25)

 

 

 

Students will start an in-class assignment on Wednesday, Oct. 26.  Due date to be determined.  Rough draft due Wednesday, Nov. 2.  Final draft, with cover page and table, due Monday, Nov. 7.

We are studying poetry.  On Wednesday, students will be creating a poem of their own, following a model.  The first draft will be due on Tuesday, 4 Oct.  We will review verb tenses, and then they will do their final copy, accompanied by a visual.

 

 

 

We have studied le passé compose.  We will review l’imparfait, and then study le conditionnel.  A project will follow in the near future.  Students will be doing a project on their ideal vacation getaway.  The rough draft will be due on Tuesday, November 1.

Students are reading independently our novel:  La symphonie pastorale.  They are expected to have read the first 50 pages by Tuesday, October 11, with comprehension questions completed.

We are discussing immigration in Canada today.  Students will soon have a short quiz.

Students are now working on a concept map for the Outcome 1.2 of their course.  They will have two classes to complete this task; if not completed, will be for homework.  To be presented the following week.  They will get a participation/presentation mark for their Français course!)

In-class assignment – 2 periods – regarding the Immigrant experience.  This will take place Monday, Oct. 17.

 

First unit test will take place Wednesday, Nov. 2. Students will be given a review sheet very soon and can work on it at home.

  We will be starting very shortly a multi-layered project on world War 1.  All students should keep on top of the tasks given so it will not be too cumbersome when it is due.

I have impressed upon my students the importance of reading their text book on a daily basis, so they are able to understand any discussions held in class. 

 

History Students will have homework on a daily basis.  Please check with your child.  Your child must complete these questions on a daily basis.  I will be checking from time to time.
